Trump Gives Elon Musk The Cold Shoulder

They are no longer on good terms.

President Donald Trump has no plans to speak with Tesla CEO Elon Musk to resolve their recent public disagreement, according to a senior White House official. The two wealthy businessmen clashed over Musk’s criticism of Trump’s proposed tax bill, which is currently being reviewed in the Senate.

The conflict intensified after Trump called Musk “crazy” and threatened to cancel federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX. Musk responded by claiming that his financial support had been crucial to Trump’s election and accused the former president of being ungrateful. Musk also denied Trump’s claim that he was removed from a government advisory role due to being “wearing thin.” There was also confusion when Musk announced plans to retire SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft but later retracted that statement.

Trump stated in an interview that he wasn’t considering reaching out to Musk anytime soon but wished him well and suggested Musk was facing personal issues. Trump’s chief of staff confirmed there were no scheduled discussions planned despite reports that a call was being arranged to ease tensions.

A White House official expressed a desire to de-escalate the situation but made clear no formal calls were currently planned. Overall, the feud highlights growing tensions between the two influential figures following Musk’s departure from his advisory position and his vocal criticism of Trump’s policies.
