Possible ‘Copycat’ Of CEO Killing Unfolds

Things are getting out of hand.

A Michigan man, Nathan Mahoney, is accused of stabbing his employer, Erik Denslow, the president of Anderson Express Inc., during a staff meeting on Tuesday. The attack occurred in Muskegon, Michigan, when Mahoney allegedly walked out of the meeting, returned a few minutes later, and stabbed Denslow in the side. Mahoney, who had only been employed at the company for a few weeks, fled the scene but was arrested 15 minutes later by police. Denslow was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery; he is now in serious but stable condition.

Authorities are considering the possibility that the attack was a “copycat” of the recent fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, as both incidents share similarities. Fruitport Township Police are examining Mahoney’s social media and electronic devices to try to determine the motive behind the attack. As of now, investigators have not determined why Mahoney allegedly attacked Denslow, and they are working to understand his actions.

Denslow joined Anderson Express in 2022 as vice president and general manager and was promoted to president within the year. Anderson Express, which works with the automotive and defense industries, expressed shock and concern after the incident. The company issued a statement that focused on supporting their employees and expressed hope for Denslow’s full recovery.

Mahoney was charged with assault with intent to murder and fleeing the scene. He is currently being held in the Muskegon County Jail with a bond set at $501,000. The company and authorities are continuing their investigations, and the police are not ruling out the possibility that this may be related to other recent high-profile incidents.
