Could he be out for the season?
During the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers, tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders suffered a frightening injury that required him to be carted off the field on a backboard.
The incident occurred after Sanders caught a pass and ran down the right sideline. A low tackle sent him flipping out of bounds, resulting in an awkward fall that caused him to land directly on his head. Medical staff quickly attended to Sanders, who remained on the ground after the play, carefully stabilizing him before he was carted off.
While being taken off the field, Sanders managed to give a “thumbs up” to the crowd, providing a reassuring sign amid the concerning scene. Panthers head coach Dave Canales later updated CBS, confirming that Sanders had full movement in all his extremities and was transported to a local hospital. He was diagnosed with a concussion.
This injury, while serious, thankfully wasn’t worse, though it serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with football. The moment was undoubtedly one of the more nerve-wracking injuries in recent memory, highlighting the importance of safety protocols in the sport.
