Eagles Celebration Turns Into Tragedy

It was a terrifying post-game accident.

Several people were injured when a vehicle drove into a crowd in Philadelphia following the Eagles’ victory over the Washington Commanders, securing their spot in the Super Bowl. According to police, the incident occurred at an intersection along Broad Street, a popular location where fans traditionally gather to celebrate major Eagles wins.

Authorities believe the vehicle may have accidentally struck pedestrians, but the exact number of people injured or hospitalized was not immediately available. Footage from the scene captured Philadelphia Fire Department personnel attending to the injured individuals in the street. The driver was taken into custody, and police have indicated that the incident does not appear to have been intentional.

NBC Philadelphia aired footage of large crowds celebrating along Broad Street in response to the Eagles’ NFC championship win. Earlier that evening, the city’s Office of Emergency Management had closed streets near Broad Street to accommodate the celebratory gatherings, though the incident took place just north of the designated closures.

The Eagles defeated the Commanders 55-23 and are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, which will take place in New Orleans on February 9.
