He stole 8 cars in Kentucky.
Deantae Walker, a 21-year-old from Westland, Michigan, has been arrested in connection with the theft of eight Corvettes worth $1.2 million from a General Motors plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Walker faces several charges, including evading police, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief. Authorities linked him to the crime after a woman reported seeing a man driving a red Corvette with a price tag still attached near an apartment complex. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the Corvette had been stolen from the GM plant.
As police continued their investigation, they discovered two more stolen Corvettes at the same apartment complex, with a third located nearby. A manager at the GM plant verified that eight cars were missing from the facility’s back lot. Security footage from the complex showed a man exiting one of the stolen vehicles, wearing a green sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, further confirming Walker’s involvement in the theft.
The stolen Corvettes were driven out of the plant through a hole in the fence, and authorities believe that at least nine individuals were involved in the heist. A transport driver also reported a strange interaction with two men who were eager to have him transport Corvettes to Michigan. The vehicles appeared to be damaged on the bottom, raising suspicions about how the cars were handled.
While the identities of all the suspects are still unknown, law enforcement expects to make additional arrests as the investigation continues. The stolen vehicles were likely on their way to Michigan, and authorities are working to track down the remaining suspects. Walker, who has no affiliation with the GM plant, faces serious charges, and further arrests are anticipated as more details emerge.
The heist has sparked concerns over the security of the GM plant and the scope of the operation, which involved stolen cars potentially being transported across state lines. Investigators are continuing their work and expect more developments as they uncover additional information about the crime.
