Major U.S. Project Set To Transform The Nation’s Power Grid

Big changes are coming.

The Trump administration is swiftly reversing the energy policies put in place by President Joe Biden, making significant strides in energy production within the first two months of taking office. Recently, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited Louisiana to announce the resumption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. This development was made in collaboration with Venture Global, a company committing $18 billion to new energy investments.

Venture Global shared plans for a major expansion at its Plaquemines LNG facility, located south of New Orleans. The project will involve the construction of 24 new production units and represents an additional $18 billion investment in Louisiana, bringing the company’s total U.S. energy investments to over $75 billion. Several key officials, including Energy Secretary Wright, Interior Secretary Burgum, and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, were present for the announcement.

Interior Secretary Burgum emphasized the importance of President Trump’s energy policy, which aims to enhance U.S. energy exports and reduce dependency on adversarial nations. He pointed out that restrictions on export facilities during the Biden administration had pushed European countries to rely more heavily on Russian energy.

Venture Global played a significant role during Trump’s first term as a major LNG producer and exporter. The company’s CEO, Mike Sabel, highlighted the Plaquemines expansion as a critical project for meeting global LNG demand and contributing to the U.S. economy. He expressed confidence that this expansion would allow the U.S. to respond quickly to market needs, thanks to a favorable regulatory environment under the Trump administration.

In February, President Trump also established the National Energy Dominance Council, which focuses on lowering energy costs and improving various processes related to energy production, distribution, and regulation, further solidifying the administration’s commitment to U.S. energy dominance.
