This is months after the CEO’s death.
An individual was taken into custody on Monday near the UnitedHealthcare headquarters in Minnetonka, Minnesota, just months after the tragic death of the company’s CEO in New York City.
According to city spokesperson Andy Wittenborg, the suspect was seen around 11 a.m. in a parking area near the company’s corporate offices. He reportedly approached a security checkpoint where he was not authorized to be. Authorities say he eventually cooperated and was peacefully apprehended about an hour later.
Local police confirmed there was no danger posed to the community during the incident, and the FBI was also present at the scene. Officials have stated that the situation has no connection to the December 2024 shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Thompson was fatally shot while walking to an investor event in New York City. Luigi Mangione, 26, was arrested shortly afterward in Pennsylvania and has been charged with murder and terrorism. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
