A fire was started.
On Saturday, a smoke plume was seen rising above Walt Disney World Resort due to a fire in a walk-in cooler. The fire broke out in a backstage area behind the France Pavilion, which is part of the World Showcase at Epcot. Thankfully, the blaze was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
Footage and photos of the fire were widely shared on social media by park visitors and others in the Orlando area. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District fire department responded to the scene and was able to contain the fire swiftly.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the situation was handled efficiently, ensuring the safety of both guests and staff. The France Pavilion, which had temporarily closed due to the incident, was reopened later in the evening.
Despite the fire, the incident did not cause any major disruptions to park activities or operations, and the theme park resumed normal activities that same day.
