There’s a rift in the White House.
As the Biden-Harris administration nears its end in January, attention is shifting to First Lady Jill Biden, especially after her recent comments at a White House event that have sparked speculation about potential tensions within the administration.
With President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration marking the end of Joe Biden’s presidency, Jill Biden’s role in the White House will also come to a close.
During a Wednesday event focused on women’s health research, Jill Biden made remarks that some observers believed were directed at Vice President Kamala Harris. In her speech, Jill Biden spoke about the importance of “joy,” a central theme in Harris’s campaign rhetoric. “So I hope you all feel that sense of, you know, peace and light,” Biden said, gesturing upward. “And just for a moment when you leave here today, you feel, I don’t know, a sense of joy. Because I think we all need like this, we all need to feel joy now during this time of the season.”
She quickly added, smiling, “You’re all reading into that!” Her informal phrasing and offhand comment led some to compare her style of speaking to what has been mockingly referred to as Harris’s “word salad” approach.
