She was caught in the act.
A woman managed to bypass security measures and board a flight from New York to Paris without a ticket, only to be discovered after the plane landed, authorities reported on Wednesday.
The woman was aboard Delta Flight 264, which flew from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Tuesday.
According to a source familiar with the situation, law enforcement officials removed the woman from the flight once it arrived in Paris. The woman had managed to board the aircraft by evading two identity verification and boarding status checks, as confirmed by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesperson.
Although she underwent a full security screening before boarding, ensuring she did not carry any prohibited items or pose a security risk, how she evaded the ticketing stations remains unclear. Authorities noted that individuals must pass through security clearance to reach a departure gate.
The flight departed JFK at 10:37 p.m. ET and landed in Paris around noon CET, as per flight tracking data from FlightAware.
Delta Airlines emphasized the importance of safety and security, stating that it was thoroughly investigating the incident. The airline also assured it would work closely with other aviation and law enforcement authorities to determine how this breach occurred. Further details about the woman’s identity have not been disclosed.
