Unexplained drone sightings continue to be reported across New Jersey, leaving residents and authorities puzzled about their origin and purpose. The drones were first spotted in Morris County in mid-November, and since then, there has been a noticeable increase in sightings, particularly in Middlesex County and other parts of the state.
State officials are taking these mysterious drone incidents seriously. Governor Phil Murphy assured the public on Thursday that there is no known threat associated with the drones. He also mentioned that he had met with key officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, members of the Department of Homeland Security, New Jersey’s Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, and the New Jersey State Police to discuss the situation.
The FBI has launched an investigation into the sightings and is urging the public to report any drone activity they observe. On December 3, the FBI’s Newark office, along with state police and homeland security officials, issued a statement asking for information about drones spotted near the Raritan River. The statement revealed that there have been reports of drones, as well as a possible fixed-wing aircraft, flying in the area, with sightings dating back several weeks.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, but so far, there has been no confirmation of the drones’ origin or purpose. The investigation remains ongoing as officials seek answers to the growing number of mysterious drone sightings in the region.
