They are dumping their old state.
Dutch Bros Coffee has announced that it is officially relocating its corporate headquarters from Grants Pass, Oregon, to Phoenix, Arizona. This move completes a transition that began last year and represents a strategic shift in the company’s executive operations. The coffee chain emphasized that consolidating its support teams in Phoenix will help improve collaboration and position the company for future expansion across the U.S.
In a statement, Dutch Bros highlighted the benefits of bringing more of its staff together in one centralized location, citing improved functionality and company culture. The company also noted it is reorganizing several departments and shifting more roles to the Phoenix office, which will now serve as its official headquarters. This follows substantial investment in moving segments of its workforce to Arizona throughout 2023.
Though Dutch Bros described the change as growth-oriented, some Oregon lawmakers and residents have expressed concern over the broader implications. State Senator Noah Robinson pointed to ongoing issues in Grants Pass—such as homelessness and crime—as potential factors influencing the decision. Other Republican officials criticized Oregon’s tax and regulatory climate, arguing it may be driving businesses out of the state.
Dutch Bros joins a growing list of companies that have relocated operations away from traditionally liberal-leaning states in favor of business-friendly regions like Arizona, which offers lower taxes and fewer regulations. The departure is expected to impact the local economy in Grants Pass, where Dutch Bros has been a significant employer and community presence.
Founded in Oregon in the 1990s as a drive-thru coffee stand, Dutch Bros has grown into a publicly traded company with hundreds of locations nationwide. It remains popular among young consumers and known for its lively service and unique beverages. While Dutch Bros has not disclosed whether it will keep any operational offices in Oregon beyond its retail stores, its executive and support teams will now be based in Phoenix.
